Duomo di S. Michele Arcangelo

piazza Vescovado - Casertavecchia - Caserta (CE)

In the heart of the medieval village of Casertavecchia stands the church dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, also known as the Dome, which was the cathedral of the diocese of Caserta until 1842. The building was built between 1113 and 1153 and represents a shining example of the Romanesque period in Campania, where elements from Sicily, Romanesque and early Christian tradition merge with Norman, Arab and Byzantine influences.
