The maritime station

Molo Angioino - Napoli (NA)

Manager: Terminal Napoli S.p.a.

The ferry terminal of Naples is situated on an old Anjou pier; following National Unity this was enlarged to receive the numerous passengers who arrived and left the harbour. So the idea was to build a majestic area for the terminal and to enhance the role of the city for maritime trade: the result was a terminal that ideally closed the perspective of Piazza Municipio while still keeping the historical core of Naples' harbour. The big building clad in travertine and constructed according to the rules of rationalist architecture, was designed by e Cesare Bazzani in 1936, during the works of enlargement and renovation of the whole harbour area promoted by the Fascist regime.
Firstly, the area had the function of terminal for passengers, while today it hosts a convention hall, a shopping centre and many events.
