Molo Immacolatella Vecchia - Napoli (NA)
Manager: Arch. Biagina Di Benedetto for the Autorità portuale (Port Authority)
The building was commissioned, around 1740, by king Charles of Bourbon to the architect Domenico Antonio Vaccaro, who designed the original octagonal plan of the structure. The façade is decorated with a sculpted group showing the Immaculate Conception and Angels, bearing the Marian symbols, realised by Francesco Pagano.
The building was at first used as site for the Deputation of Health and of the Harbour Master, then was changed into a ferry terminal; at present it has no particular aim, but it should be subject to restoration in order to transform it into an exhibition area.
