Congrega del S.mo Nome di Gesù in S. Domenico Maggiore

80134 Vico San Domenico Maggiore - Napoli (NA)

Manager: Ufficio Confraternita della Curia

The coven was built on the initiative of a group of believers that were part of the middle class and had, as spiritual mentors, the Dominican friars, who in fact gave to the confreres a room located in the atrium of the convent. The rules of the coven were approved in 1623. In the second half of the 20th-century the association suffered a decrease in the number of enrolled, and in 1977 the rooms, already occupied by the coven, were assigned to the parson of S. Domenico Maggiore to carry out catechesis. The inside of the small hall with barrel vault shows a sober main altar dating back to the early XIX century, topped by a canvas representing the Circoncisione, attributed to an unknown artist of the early XVIII century.
